I asked some friends to join in and give some tips around Trentino and Trento as well!
Things mentioned and shown in the videos
In case you don’t have time to check out the videos, here are the places mentioned in a handy list.
Piazza Duomo – Main square of Trento
With a gorgeous fountain, this is a great place to start your wandering around Trento. On the odd occasion, you might be lucky enough to see some fun public events like Capoeira.
Waterfalls
There are lots of waterfalls to visit around Trentino! For a complete list of all them check out the Visit Trentino website. There’s even one that is a short walk from Trento called Orrido di Ponte Alto, You can also catch a bus
Trentino card
If you are visiting Trentino for more than a few days I recommend the tourist card / Trentino Guest Card. Some of the perks include:
- Free travel local trains, ferries and some cableways
- Free entry to over 60 museums
- Discounts on various tourist experiences
- And more (check out the website for more details)
You can get it either FREE by staying with one of the hotels which are part of the initiative or paying 40 Eur for the week. I personally think that if you are using public transport and planning to move around the region then this is a must! It’s very family-friendly as well, it’s free for kids and under 18s.
Pizza
Via Alessandro Manzoni,
15, 38122
Trento
For great value for money and epic-sized pizzas, you can’t go wrong visiting #PIZZAROAD. The staff is super friendly and I have never seen a chef so happy spinning pizza dough! ?
Trento Cable cart
Trento is surrounded by mountains some are much easier to get up. You can easily get high above with the cable cart in Trento. If you have a Trentino Guest card, you can use it for free. It only takes a couple of minutes and you are rewarded with a nice view of the town. There’s a great bar at the top as well to relax and chill out. Plus if you’re like me and not a big fan of heat, it’s definitely cooler at higher altitudes.
Buonconsiglio Castle Museum
Via Bernardo Clesio, 5,
38122
Trento
Who doesn’t like an epic castle? Well, you have quite an impressive and historic one in Trento! Free with the Trentino Guest Card and remember that like most museums, it’s closed on Mondays.
Food with friends – Trattoria Al Tino Trento
Via SS.Trinità, 10,
38122
Trento TN
There are lots of great restaurants in Trento but we found this one to have a great selection of traditioanl Italian dishes and very central. In good weather, try to get a table outside! Note that if you’re looking for a light dinner, I recommend picking just something from the first course which is usually some kind of pasta.
Science museum (MUSE)
Corso del Lavoro e della Scienza, 3,
38122
Trento TN
Definitely one for the family, the science museum is great for people young and old. There are lots of various subjects covered over the multiple levels from dinosaur fossils, wildlife and they even have a small aquarium!
Forest and mines
You can book an excursion with a local expert to go into one of the medieval mines. One of the reason’s Trentino was such a rich area was because of the number of riches in the mines. Find out more details here
